For more than 50 years, Eric Smith has delivered the San Francisco Chronicle to his neighbors and friends in the Berkeley Hills – throwing millions of newspapers from his 1975 Chevrolet Capri. At 75 years old, he contemplates the road ahead as the rival publication, the Oakland Tribune, shutters. Will he outlast his newspaper?

This is a short cut of a short documentary that I am working on, Paperboy. It was part of a graduate school class (a digital media skills refresher) that I took earlier this year at UC Berkeley’s Advanced Media Institute. I shot it with two classmates; the editing here is mine. I’ve had a lot of fun working on this and using Adobe’s Premiere. I also recently have taken a course on storytelling in sound with Ben Manilla using Audition. You never stop learning!
